The advertised post is for a substantive Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Health in The Northern Contraception Sexual Health and HIV service which sits in the Outpatient Clinical Services Unit at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


The Northern Sexual Health, Contraception and HIV Service offers open access, integrated sexual health (ISH) services across Manchester and Trafford, with the largest geographical footprint of ISH services within Greater Manchester.

The services are led by Consultants in both Genito-urinary Medicine and Sexual and Reproductive Health.

There are approximately 115,000 patient contacts per year within ISH services and 20,000 within the HIV services, across all hubs.


To work as part of the Northern Consultant team to support delivery of care and provide system leadership across the Northern footprint.


To work as part of the Northern Consultant team to support delivery of care and provide system leadership across the Northern footprint including Community Gynaecology and Outreach services.


The post holder will be required to provide specialist contraception clinics as well as integrated sexual health clinics There will be a requirement for the post holder to undertake complex LARC procedures including those under direct ultrasound guidance.

There will also be a requirement to deliver menopause and community gynaecology clinics. There is an expectation that the post holder will support the delivery of teaching & training in Sexual & Reproductive Health

A high frequency on-call is applicable to this post.
