Applications are invited for a Medical Statistician, to work with a team alongside Dr Tom Fanshawe at the University of Oxford on a range of applied research projects in diagnostic and prognostic healthcare research.

The successful applicant will provide statistical support for projects carried out within the NIHR Community Healthcare MedTech and In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative (MIC) to improve the evidence base for new diagnostics used in primary care, and the Applied Research Collaboration Oxford and Thames Valley (ARC).


Responsibilities will include planning and conducting the statistical analysis of datasets arising from research projects, providing statistical advice to other project members as part of a collaborative team; and writing statistical analysis plans and scientific papers.

There will also be the opportunity to work with other members of the Statistics Group in developing ideas for new research proposals.

The successful applicant will also contribute towards the development and delivery of teaching materials on undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes provided by the Statistics Group.


You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG.

There may be the opportunity for occasional remote working if agreed with your line manager.

This position is funded by the National Institute for Health Research, for 24 months in the first instance. It is offered full-time but a part-time role can also be considered.
