Middlesbrough First is a small local charity which promotes self-advocacy and personal development through education and training for adults living with learning disabilities and/or neurodivergence, across the town. We also provide an individual advocacy service.
We have an exciting opportunity to extend our work to offer physical activities and wellbeing to our members to improve their outcomes and tackle health inequalities.
Middlesbrough First is looking to appoint a Wellbeing Project Coordinator who understands and enjoys working with adults with learning disabilities and neurodivergence.

What you'll be doing:
Advocacy on behalf of group members who may require support with issues surrounding health, housing and finances.
Co-designing health and wellbeing activities to improve physical and mental health outcomes, which are appropriate for people who may have pre-existing health conditions and reduced mobility.
Developing partnership working and networking to deliver effective activity sessions
Working to the highest standards to deliver the best possible outcomes for people
Skills
Ability to work and engage well with adults with learning disabilities/neurodivergence
Ability to act as an advocate and encourage self-advocacy
A 'people person' with excellent interpersonal skills to work with our group and a range of external partners
Good presentation skills
Excellent verbal and written English including report writing
Working knowledge of ICT
Ability to multi-task and manage workload effectively
Ability to manage groups and resources correctly
Experience/qualifications
A good general standard of education
Experience of working with people with learning disabilities/neurodivergence (desirable)
An understanding of the barriers faced by our group to accessing physical activity
A coaching qualification (desirable)
Some knowledge of national and regional programmes and the landscape of sports/health development
An understanding of the current challenges faced by organisations in the charity sector
Personal Characteristics
Friendly, able to respect, communicate with and listen attentively to adults with learning disabilities/neurodivergence
Assertive yet calm and able to work under pressure for example when running groups and representing the best interests of group members
Self-motivated and able to work as an effective team member and independently
Trustworthy, reliable and with good ethical values
