The Role


The Head of Data Governance will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of our data governance and privacy frameworks using appropriate technology.

By implementing best practices in data management, improving data quality, reducing associated risks around privacy compliance, and gaining better insights that can inform decision-making processes with a view to delivering industry leading practices in the end-to-end management of data.


The Team
The Data team is transforming the way PRS manages and exploits its data.

We excel at organising, governing, and utilising data to help the organisation predict trends, reduce costs, improve member services, and find new growth opportunities.

With a focus on business intelligence, advanced analytics, data mining, and machine learning, we have a proven track record and transformation data capabilities.


Responsibilities:

This is a leadership role with a headcount of 3 report.


As our Head of Data Governance, you will lead the execution and communication of our data maturity strategy and be tasked with reviewing and improving our data governance best practice and have overall responsibility for all data governance tools, templates, and technologies.

Some of your day to day duties will include.

  • Review and validate the data privacy controls and processes with a view to optimising and streamlining, where possible. By maintaining a working awareness of any relevant statutory, internal, or external regulations, standards, and codes of good practice; identify Data Protection interests and coordinate with the Privacy Operations Group to safeguard compliance.
  • Develop and monitor governance controls, for maintaining master and reference data sets.
  • Implement appropriate quality assurance processes to ensure that projects are carried out in accordance with agreed data policies, standards, methods and procedures
  • Maintain data definitions, data catalogues, policy, standards, model and other data artefacts in a single, secure, versioncontrolled repository and publicise new documents and changes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across legal cybersecurity and architecture bringing data governance and data privacy frameworks closer together and achieve organisational goals.
  • Embed the Data Governance Framework and lead the PRS Data Stewards in the delivery of an effective Data Governance framework, driving continuous improvement of the enterprise data assets and support and onboard new Data Owners and Data Stewards as required.
  • Promoting data literacy among employees by providing training and resources that help them understand how to effectively manage and use data.
  • Be accountable for the governance of the corporate data glossary.

About you:

  • Strong background in data management best practice including
  • MDM, data classification, data definition, data standards and data quality management.
  • Deep understanding of data modelling, databases, and information management, understanding the importance of their applicability within the organisation
  • Possesses an uptodate knowledge of policy frameworks and business process management.
  • Can make sound and farreaching decisions on major issues and take responsibility for them, whether in a technical, managerial, advisory or specialist role
  • Good interpersonal skills to guide and coach others and negotiate and build consensus regarding future goals.
  • Excellent knowledge in data protection law and practices should have a professional privacy qualification. CIPP, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT.
Familiarity with TOGAF or similar architectural frameworks and principles would be advantageous
