Role Overview:


As a Cemetery / Sports Booking Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day cemetery functions, providing comprehensive administrative support, and maintaining our online sports pitch booking service.

Your expertise will contribute to the smooth running of our services, supporting undertakers, memorial masons, bereaved families, and sports clubs.


What We're Looking For:


  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including bereaved families, sports clubs, and public bodies.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to provide empathetic support and guidance to customers.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities to handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate administration of cemetery functions and sports bookings.
  • IT proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office but most importantly a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Problemsolving and conflict resolution in challenging situations.

Skills You Can Learn On the Job:

  • In-depth knowledge of cemetery and sports booking regulations.
  • Financial administration, including budget management and grant processing.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping systems and techniques.
  • Familiarity with council policies, procedures, and servicewide support functions.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Administering our online Sports Pitch Booking system, ensuring accurate coordination of pitch bookings, and providing guidance to sports clubs.
  • Providing essential business support services, serving as the first point of contact for customer advice and inquiries, maintaining databases, and supporting servicewide functions.
  • Offering financial support to the service, including purchase ordering, invoice processing, and monitoring statistics. Sharing expertise on finance and audit procedures with colleagues.

Location and Working Hours:

This office-based role is located in Test Valley, Hampshire.

While most of your work will be within the office, occasional off-site work and events outside of normal hours may be required.

A valid driver's licence and access to transportation are necessary for traveling to various locations across Hampshire from time to time.
