Your new role
Hitachi Rail have a great opportunity to join our UK Manufacturing site as a
Material Controller.

If successful you will be joining a dedicated production cell team and will become an integral part of our business by gathering and sharing appropriate information and ensuring targets are met and procedures are followed at all times.

Prior Material Controlling experience is essential along with the ability to work in a fast paced, always moving environment.


The
Material Controller will hold responsibility for scheduling and planning materials for specific production cell and will monitor and track top running items to allow for accurate forecasting by ensuring system models are maintained.

This is ideal role for someone who is highly organised, enjoys a challenge and is able to communicate to various stakeholders clearly and effectively.

Each day will be varied and fast paced and you will understand the necessity of speed within a high value low volume manufacturing environment.


_Please note this is a 12 month fixed term contract._

About you
Applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the essential requirements listed below:
Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a similar, material controls environment/role.
  • Experience working with SAP or equivalent systems
  • Experience of statistical reporting, forecasting and understanding of financial and operational impacts of forecasting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be able to negotiation and be analytical.
  • Well organised and prides themselves in attention to detail
  • Ability to be assertive to achieve goals
  • Selfmotivated and able to use own initiative.
  • Competent IT Skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment
Desirable Requirements

  • MRP experience is advantageous.

Role responsibilities include

  • Coordinate and execute scheduling activities for assigned part numbers using advanced planning system. (SAP)
  • Identify and react to material plans that do not meet Production requirements.
  • Monitor and manage any returnable packaging to and from suppliers.
  • Analyse data to determine opportunities to decrease inventory, improve Production service levels and reduce total costs.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, share, communicate and report on variances to the Materials Manager.
  • Interact with the Master Scheduler to understand demand and forecast.
  • Use and maintain MRP data as the primary planning system tool.
  • Provide input in developing departmental strategies for inventory on existing items, new product introduction and phase outs.
  • Create statistical reports on supplier performance and inventory accuracy.
  • Share data with relevant departments and external suppliers.
  • Interact with other departments as and when required.
  • Work closely with supplier to ensure no areas of concern including monitoring their stock holding
  • Execute with excellence in the area of stock and demand replenishment providing feedback to the supply chain on risks regarding replenishment levels and demand.
  • To participate in twice yearly stock takes, most likely to be held on a weekend.
  • To be aware of and actively promote and implement Hitachi's ethos, culture and values.
  • To be involved in Hitachi Rail Europe's staff development and training and participate in PDP procedure
