Description

CNPA is seeking a paid Gaelic Language Intern to fill an existing skills gap within the communications team and support the creation, development, and delivery of Gaelic content and materials for the Cairngorms Nature Festival.


The Cairngorms National Park Authority's Gaelic Language Plan aims to increase and integrate the use of Gaelic across the Park, including through its public-facing communication platforms and activities.


The Cairngorms Nature Festival (formerly the BIG Weekend) is a nine-day celebration of Cairngorms Nature beginning with a launch weekend of events; followed by a week of target audience engagement and school visits; culminating in a final weekend with more public events across the National Park.

The festival is designed to bring together people, organisations and businesses who love, support and depend upon the nature and wildlife of the Cairngorms.


The festival represents a significant engagement opportunity for the communications team to better reflect and embed the pioneering work of Cairngorms Nature across its primary channels and to provide capacity to the nature team for promotion in the lead-up to, and throughout, the festival.


The main responsibilities of the role are outlined below:

  • Support the Digital Content Coordinator by developing Gaelic copy and content to promote and raise awareness of the Cairngorms Nature Festival on social media and its website
  • Attend and capture content for social media at events and activities across the National Park including pictures, videos, audio clips and interviews in line with priorities agreed with line manager and the Nature Engagement Officer
  • Support the development of resources, including leaflets, banners and digital content, that will have longevity beyond the festival in 202
  • Seek to identify and develop positive relationships with Gaelicspeaking contacts within the National Park to support the objectives of the Gaelic Language Plan
  • Support the work of the Communications team and assist with writing and scheduling social media content and website updates for the Nature Festival and other campaigns like 30 Days Wild
  • Create Gaelicspecific content for the new Cairngorms Nature Festival website and the primary Cairngorms site
  • Review and update the previous Gaelic Language student intern's list of resources & contacts.
  • Research/identify Gaelic events/stories in the Park and support the creation of content around these where appropriate
  • Consider and make recommendations for further opportunities for the communications team to better reflect the use of Gaelic within communications
  • Work with and learn from colleagues to develop basic skills in a wide range of Communications areas with line management and peer support

Requirements:


The requirements for any applicants are listed below:

  • Fluency in the Gaelic Language
  • Interest in communications, and creating content for social media
  • Wellorganised with good planning skills
  • Able to work unsupervised and to own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to produce web/online promotional messages and ability to communicate well with external partners & CNPA staff
  • Driving licence desirable
  • Permission to work in the UK
