Main duties


  • To promote an atmosphere of care and enthusiasm where all children are welcomed and their individual needs are met.
  • To plan both individual and group opportunities for children ensuring that activities are adequately supervised and appropriate to children's needs and interests.
  • To provide full care of children including delivering children to school, collecting children from school and handing them safely over to their parents or carers.
  • To prepare premises with equipment and materials at the start of the session, ensuring all equipment set out is safe and to tidy up at the end of each session.
  • Prepare breakfast and light snack in line with rota following food hygiene regulations.
  • Establish good communications with parents/carers regarding their children's welfare.
  • Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and the school staff.
  • Be aware of health and safety issues and report problems or defects.
  • Ensure children's records are up to date and complete and maintain high standards of accuracy and confidentiality in record keeping.
  • Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.
  • Administer First Aid as appropriate, completing accident and incident reports and evaluating in line with policies and procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute ideas.
  • Manage staff rota ensuring ratios are adhered to.
  • Implement all policies and procedures and contribute to the review process.
  • Contribute to ongoing research, evaluation and assessment of need in the provision
  • Undertake any tasks requested which are commensurate with this job role and responsibility.

Expected hours: 20 per week
