Elmhurst Ballet School, in Association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, is a world-renowned centre for the training and education of talented, passionate and committed young ballet dancers.

The school was recently judged to be excellent in all areas by ISI and outstanding in all areas by OFSTED and has an international reputation for the quality of its work.

Most students board at the school and we offer fully equipped modern boarding houses for years 7 to 13. Lower School boarding is located on the School site and Upper School boarding is just a short walk away. The school is keen to grow its day student population and so ensuring day students feel included is important.

The school seeks to recruit a Vice Principal - Pastoral to start in January 2024 (or earlier if possible).

The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall management of the school's pastoral support to students, safeguarding systems, oversight of systems to promote good behaviour and the provision of boarding.

Through skilled and compassionate line management of the DSL Team, Director of Heath & Wellbeing and Heads of Lower and Upper School Boarding, they will ensure that student support systems are relevant, proactive and supportive.

That success is celebrated and rewarded and staff are well equipped with good behaviour management strategies relevant to the school's unique context.

They will ensure that boarding is a caring and nurturing environment dedicated to the wellbeing and education of students and that our safeguarding provision remains outstanding and continually moves forward.

As key member of Elmhurst Ballet School's Senior Leadership team, they will be an imaginative, innovative and compassionate senior leader with a track record of getting things done.

Their professional career to date will show exemplary commitment to promoting the wellbeing and safety of young people.

Significant experience of leading safeguarding and of managing teams is essential, an ability to listen and empathise as well as courageous to make decisions when needed are essential qualities.

An excellent understanding of life in boarding is desirable.

Elmhurst Ballet School serves a diverse body of young people from different communities, backgrounds and experiences. It is a core value of this School that dance is for everyone. In the same way, we deeply recognise the transformative and enriching importance of a diverse staff.
