Description
Turnspeed are a significant contributor of precision components to the automotive, aircraft and hydraulic industry sectors. Parts are turned and milled in a variety of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminium and titanium.


We are looking to recruit a self-motivated and conscientious individual to join the team in our busy Yeovil-based Workshop on a permanent contract over 38 hours per week.


The main duties of the role are to receive, store, and issue materials, supplies and parts, to input and track data, and to maintain computerized inventory control records.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:


  • Verify articles against purchase orders, delivery notes or pick lists, and count and inspect materials for damage or defects.
  • Select proper storage areas and store articles in bins, racks, shelves, floor or yard areas.
  • Issue materials, supplies, tools, parts and equipment, maintaining proper records.
  • Enter and retrieve data from a computerized inventory control system.
  • Load and unload articles, using a forklift, hand truck, and other materials handling equipment.
  • Maintain storage areas, shelves, and outside yard in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assign part numbers to materials through the computer system and perform clerical duties related to the storekeeping functions.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Two years of progressively responsible experience maintaining and controlling inventory required.


KNOWLEDGE OF:


  • Methods, techniques and practices of maintaining inventory.
  • Basic mathematics.
  • Methods and techniques used to maintain a safe working environment, including the safe operation of materials handling equipment.
  • Methods and practices used in receiving, storing and issuing materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.

ABILITY TO:


  • Maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Learn the policies and procedures related to inventory control.
  • Safely operate a forklift, motor vehicle and other work related equipment.
  • Coordinate activities with operations staff and other departments.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Work independently within established guidelines.
  • Inspect materials and supplies for defects and damages.
  • Accurately enter and retrieve data from a computerized control system.
  • Operate a computer using word processing, business software and other office equipment.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of your work.

£24,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
