Job Overview
Age UK Trafford are recruiting a new volunteer coordinator to develop the volunteer offer within the Hub and across the wider M41 community.
This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with the work of Age UK Trafford and to support the Hubs wider work within the West Trafford Collective.
The main responsibilities of the volunteer coordinator will be:To co-ordinate volunteering opportunities across the Trafford area and look at developing the volunteer offer within the M41 community to include recruiting volunteers within Urmston Hub and other local settings in the area.
To work in partnership with Trafford Councils Volunteering Manager and TCC Project Manager and other Volunteer Co-ordinators within the hubs.
Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility
- To manage Urmston Hubs team of volunteers, identifying suitable volunteer roles, developing volunteer role descriptions.
- Recruit new volunteers and provide appropriate inductions and training.
- Be the first point of contact to discuss volunteer opportunities.
- Monitor and motivate volunteers and support them in their work.
- Work closely with other local organisations to help build relationships and develop stronger communities and improve the coordination of volunteers across the M41 area.
- Encourage local VCSE, Faith groups and individuals to work together with the West Trafford Collective for the benefit of the local community
- Work alongside the Prevention and Wellness Manager to ensure volunteer policies, risk assessments and other administration is maintained and kept up to date.
- Work with Trafford Councils Volunteer Manager to identify opportunities for volunteering and minimise barriers across the M41 area.
- Develop a volunteering offer for the M41 community and share information about future events and opportunities by developing an online news bulletin.
- Develop local training resources and work with the Project Coordinator and Prevention and Wellness Manager to support the delivery of training to volunteers.
- Continue to develop a "Good neighbour" scheme identifying local people at street level to act as "community link volunteers" to act as a voice in that area and to disseminate information and volunteering opportunities.
- Gather Data, case studies and feedback to input into the development of the Volunteer Strategy
- Ensure policy and procedures are kept up to date and ensure that the database for volunteers is regularly reviewed and updated.
- Publicise volunteering opportunities on social media and via other local groups and networks.
- Hold volunteer recruitment days to promote volunteering.
- Organise meetings with existing volunteers.
General Tasks
Work with your line manager to identify and undertake continual personal and professional development.
Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safeguarding, lone working, information governance, equality, diversity and inclusion training and health and safety.
Comply with all data protection requirements with regards to the access and dissemination of personal data.
Act within the policies and principles of Age UK Trafford and actively promote the good name and brand image of the organisation.
Undertake any tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role, ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
Duties may vary from time to time, without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Volunteer Coordinator
Essential / Desirable
Minimum of 2 years' experience of working within the community recruiting, placing, and managing volunteers either in a paid or voluntary capacity

A positive "can do" approach and the ability to adapt in a changing environment
Evidence of excellent computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Packages
