Department/Role overview


With proven experience in creating and realising cloud based solution designs, the individual will be a key contributor in shaping strategy and decision making within the product team, helping to drive the delivery of our digital tools and wider digital transformation within the firm.


Main responsibilities

  • Within an Agile delivery team collaborate with members of IT, the Office of the CDO and the wider business to deliver clientfacing products and experiences which support transactions, legal advice and drive engagement.
  • Take technical responsibility across all stages of configuration, development and deployment within the product team.
  • Provide technical guidance and governance on solution development and integration, evaluating requests for change and recommending actions.
  • Ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly, including adherence to information security policies, ensuring data is stored and managed in line with data classification/protection requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software configuration, construction, design and deployment.
  • Oversee and guide the implementation work of internal and 3rd party service suppliers in line with Ashurst standards, making recommendations and identifying improvements.
  • Lead the preparation of technical plans and ensure that appropriate technical resources are made available, ensuring that the team has the correct tooling.
  • Monitor the tech landscape to gather intelligence on emerging technologies and opportunities, working with the Product Owner to build technology roadmaps and sharing knowledge and insights with others.
  • Collaborate with research and development teams to explore cuttingedge AI opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external AI vendors and partners as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in AI and machine learning technologies, assessing emerging AI opportunities for the organisation.
  • Forge effective working relationships with stakeholders.

Essential skills and experience

  • A strong technical background in Azure development, architecture and deployment, with a focus on cloudnative solutions and microservices gained through delivering client facing digital platforms.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role leading implementations across cloud technologies:
Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus & Event Grid)

  • Azure Security and Identity services (Azure B2C, Azure AD, RBAC, Azure Front Door, Sentinel)
  • Azure Virtual Desktop (virtual machine automation and config)
  • Azure web apps and function apps.
  • Experience of planning strategically for current and future business environments and technology needs.
  • Able to architect solutions that meet a wide range of data residency and regionalisation requirements.
  • Build and release management using Azure DevOps and familiarity with DevOps practices and supporting tools.
  • Strong advocate of development practices and a focus on improving standards, team practices and technical documentation.
  • Container management such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with unit, integration and end to end testing tools and practices.
  • Azure certifications such as Azure Developer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management & organizational skills.
