About the Post:

This post will be based at the company premises, namely 9, Margram Business Centre, Horne Street, Halifax HX1 5UA.

Working time will be based at this address and will be spent either working in the office or visiting customers at their premises to discuss enquiries/orders/generate new business & deliver goods when needed.

You are required to hold and maintain a full UK driving license and have a vehicle available for work.

You will be provided with a mileage allowance for any mileage undertaken on behalf of the company in your own vehicle.

You will have access to the company vehicle when appropriate.


Halifax Engineering Supplies Ltd is the supplier of a wide range of industrial bearings, power transmission products and sundries to customers both private and commercial.

You will be required to support the Managing Director on a day-to-day basis and supply relevant information when requested.

You will be paid a basic monthly wage and a further enhancement dependent on sales performance.


The main elements of your role will include:

  • Appropriately identify and record customer requirements when taking orders.
  • Check warehouse stock when orders are placed and order items which are not in stock as required.
  • Follow up on customer enquiries.
  • Liaising with suppliers following enquiries to identify the cost of goods and generate appropriate quotes for goods/services to customers in a prompt and timely manner.
  • Negotiate with customers on the price of goods to generate orders.
  • Deliver/collect goods when other drivers are absent, on holiday or when needed.
  • Any other tasks requested by the Managing Director

  • To actively develop and improve technical knowledge and experience of the products requested and sold including how these are used by the customer.
  • Keeping accurate and complete records of activities and communication consistent with required company records and any current legislation.
  • Ensuring that resources are deployed in the most costeffective way whilst allowing yourself and the team to meet required standards and sales targets.
  • Demonstrating a positive approach and taking responsibility at an appropriate level to ensure objectives are achieved.

  • Being approachable, open and constructively manage any barriers to communication whilst considering any relevant contextual factors.
  • Team working alongside colleagues to set appropriate standards and sharing relevant information to ensure that all parties can work effectively for the good of the company.
  • Identifying and evaluating areas for potential service improvements.
  • Discussing and agreeing with the Managing Director how the service could be improved as a result of suggestions, recommendations and directives; and balancing and prioritising competing interests about how improvements will be taken forward and implemented.
  • Monitoring customer information and using this to assist in planning and improving systems/sales.
  • Anticipating problem situations and seeking creative solutions.
  • Understanding the needs of customers and managing their expectations.
  • Complying with current Data Protection legislation when dealing with customer details and other sensitive information.
  • Identifying areas of risk ensuring that mistakes are corrected, and that learning is fed back to ensure that mistakes are not repeated.
  • To hold and maintain a full UK driving license.
