Rotational Physiotherapist

We have fantastic opportunities available for new or experienced talented Band 5 Physiotherapists to join the physiotherapy rotation between our community
- based therapy services on the Wirral and our neighbouring acute Trust.


The posts are rotational across Rehabilitation at Home, Community Intermediate Care Centre, DME, Orthopaedics (Trauma and Elective), Acute Neuro, Medicine, Surgery, Musculoskeletal and Unplanned Care (A&E and assessment areas).

Rotations are currently 6 months in duration, allowing you time to develop and consolidate clinical skills and experience in each of the specialities.


Depending on the rotation, you will be expected to work across 2 hospital sites Arrowe Park Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital, as well as in the community which involves visiting patients in their own home or place or residence.


The post holder requires a high degree of empathy, understanding, diplomacy, honesty and integrity as well as good communication and interpersonal skills, and be willing to undertake on-going training and development.


We are looking for Physiotherapists who can work autonomously and independently, manage their own caseload, which can include patients with complex needs with additional supervision.


You will receive support from experienced senior therapists and team leaders, regular supervision, training and other development opportunities contributing to your CPD and career progression.

You will be expected to monitor and support the work and development of therapy assistants and students on clinical placements, as well as contributing to the improvement of therapy services.

We can support newly qualified Physiotherapists or those returning to practice through our preceptorship programme and peer support network.


You will be employed by Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (WCHC) even though many of the rotations are provided by Wirral University Hospitals NHS Trust (WUTH).

You will continue to receive all the benefits and support from our community Trust, including a physiotherapy mentor, when you are on rotation in the hospital.

The post holder will:


  • Assess/ manage/ treat caseload of patients with support of a senior physiotherapist and maintain associated records
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team within a specified clinical area
  • Be involved in the training and development of other Allied Health Professionals, students and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in departmental audit and service development activity
  • Participate in providing 7 day services and extended day, as required by the service
  • Participate in CPD and other development activities, under the guidance of the senior physiotherapist.
