Pro-rata salary for 30 hrs per week, Term Time Only (38 weeks)


As part of our continued commitment to pastoral support at Imberhorne, we are introducing two new posts to enhance our mixed skilled teams and to provided much needed capacity to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 provision.


We are seeking a positive, proactive and passionate individual with a focus on ensuring that every child can embrace educational opportunities and achieve good outcomes.

To achieve this end, you will remove barriers to learning and encourage good attendance, behaviour and academic progress. This is a great opportunity for individuals experienced in pastoral work and seeking to further develop their career.

The main purpose of the role is to:

  • Develop secure and purposeful relationships with students, their families and wider professionals to identify and address barriers that limit educational outcomes and improve life chances.
  • Develop, maintain and improve the pastoral support offered through the provision of effective support arrangements and efficient administrative and reporting systems that align to wider school processes, procedures and operations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Attendance Officer, Family Engagement Manager, parents and carers to facilitate improvements in student attendance and behaviour management, including antibullying strategies through timely interventions.
  • Line manage the pastoral staff at the Key stage to include day to day oversight and direction, support and training.
  • Provide general administrative support to Senior Leaders and Heads of Year for pastoral events and celebrations to enable the effective day to day running of the key stage.
Coupled with excellent core skills, experience and knowledge your personal qualities will include:

  • Effective interpersonal skills that can be adapted based on the audience, coupled with an ability to manage difficult conversations and potential conflict.
  • A caring, supportive personality to ensure that positive working relationships are developed with students, staff, parents/carers and stakeholders
  • The ability to work autonomously, organising and prioritising work, even when under pressure, to meet deadlines and unplanned situations.
  • The commitment to working flexibly and constructively a part of a team, contributing to maintaining a positive and enabling environment
