Job Description:

Develop and maintain Client relationships and an awareness of their pipeline with a view to securing repeat commissions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Prepare Specifications that reflect detailed project requirements.
  • Advise Clients on Design Responsibility issues and how the form of Contract and procurement route affects the Specification format/ deliverables.
  • Advise Clients on material usage.
  • Coordinate Specifications with Contract Conditions/ Preliminaries and Specifications prepared by other disciplines e.g. Civils, Structures and MEP.
  • Develop and keep up to date with technical standards, products and innovation as they relate to our Consultancy business.
  • Attend internal and external meetings to obtain project briefing information and provide consultancy service as necessary to prepare project specific documentation.
  • Familiarise oneself with the Clients brief and scope of our service such that deliverables are aligned with agreed project scope.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of project finances and raise potential financial issues with Line Manager/ Team Lead.
  • Carry out projects in line with AECOM QA/ QC and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects under direction of Team Leader.
  • Develop and share network of Client/ potential Client contacts.
  • In conjunction with Team Leader identify and pursue BD opportunities with established Clients.
  • Develop an understanding of market conditions and how these will affect our service.
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior colleagues.
Key Internal Relationships will be within the London/ Manchester Specification Consulting team.

Key Role Requirements Qualifications, Skills and Attributes


  • Demonstrate proficiency in the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience in preparation of Architectural Specifications.
  • Evidence of good technical design understanding.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of modern construction techniques, methodologies and standards.

Qualifications:


  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of UK Construction procurement methodologies and how these relate to Specification Documentation. Knowledge of Middle East construction and procurement methodologies is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English Language).
  • Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to work logically and methodically to achieve high quality outputs as well as being self-motivated and able to take responsibility.
  • Ability to understand and work to an agreed scope and project budget.
  • Flexible attitude to new ways and methods of working.
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic with a good understanding of the design & delivery process.
  • Good understanding of BIM.
  • Familiar with researching, preparing and presenting technical presentations.
