Cronite Castings in Crewkerne has been a sucessful foundry business for over 100 years. We are currently looking for floor moulding operative to support our sand moulding production on nights.

We are looking for a
Foundry Operative to set up, maintain and operate machinery. You'll ensure the interminable and efficient running of production.

A great operative is reliable and able to work with attention to detail, comply with and follow safety standards. You will be a self-motivated team player. You will have the skills to successfully work with their assigned patterns to keep production on schedule.

Effective foundry operatives can think on their feet, make quick decisions and have strong attention to detail to ensure no equipment issues go unnoticed.


Responsibilities:


  • Monitoring equipment and processes to ensure that they are functioning properly, so that production can continue without interruption
  • Cleaning casting molds and other equipment used in the casting process
  • Inspecting molds to make sure they are free of defects before pouring molten metal into them
  • Using hand tools such as hammers and saws to cut metal into pieces that can be cast into ingots or other shapes
  • Mixing chemicals used in the casting process, such as sulfuric acid or silica sand
  • Operating cranes and forklifts to move raw materials into the foundry and finished products out of the foundry
  • Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
  • Fix issues that might occur during the shift
  • Check output to spot any mistakes or flaws
  • Work as part of a team to prepare the sand mouldings ready for the casting line
  • Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Maintain activity logs

Requirements and Skills:

  • Willing to learn the working knowledge of diverse highspeed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
  • Ability to read drawings and manuals
  • Analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical stamina and strength

  • Not essential
Machinery experience is not essential as full training will be given.
