Overview:

This is a combined job role, incorporating duties of a Health Care Theatre Assistant and that of a Receptionist. The role is 39 hours per week, to be worked over a 4 day rota. Our working days are , 4 days per week.

Operating days are Monday to Saturday, so the 4 working days can vary per week but contracted to be 39 hours.

Rota's are usually provided 1-2 months in advance.

Hours_: 39 hours per week condensed over 4 days. The days are not fixed, and will be scheduled over a Monday to Saturday period. Working hours are to cover two operating sessions per day and

Role:_ This is a combined job role, including duties of a Health Care Theatre Assistant and Receptionist. The requirements of the role may vary week on week depending upon operational requirement, but it is thought that 1 day per week will be on Reception and 3 days per week as an Operating Theatre Assistant. The role will be biased more towards a Theatre Assistant.

Salary:_ £24,897.08 per year. This is equivalent to £12.24 per hour, paid monthly. A 30-minute unpaid lunch break is paid between operating sessions. Hours worked on a Saturday are paid at time and a third.

Holiday:_ 257.5 hours holiday pa, including bank holiday entitlement. Bank holidays are to be booked off using hourly annual leave as we do not open on Bank Holidays.

Role Summary:

This is a FT combined job role incorporating duties of a Receptionist and a Theatre Assistant.

Theatre Assistant Summary_: As a member of a small surgical theatre team, you will perform all the tasks of a Theatre Assistant following local policies and procedures and national guidelines. You will be expected to provide quality patient care under the guidance and supervision of the General Manager, Clinical Lead and Theatre Team Manager. You will assist in both theatre administration and clinical duties, preparing the environment for clinical procedures. You will assist the trained nurse / ODP and surgeon throughout the entire patient journey through admission, operation and discharge. You will also facilitate the smooth running of outpatient clinics. You will be expected to assist in deep cleaning of the clinical environment and be aware of the need to adhere to all infection control guidelines and procedures.

Receptionist Summary:_ You'll be our ambassador, welcoming both NHS and private dermatology and plastic surgery patients into the practice, as well as those for our medical aesthetics clinic, and be the first person to help them. You'll exude our core values of treating every patient with dignity and respect, supporting us in providing quality care to every person. You will be accountable for creating a welcoming and calm reception area and waiting rooms considering that some patients will be nervous or worried about their appointment and/or results. This includes providing beverages, promoting and processing retail sales of products and assisting with the cleaning, stock-taking and beginning/end of day reception procedures.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES THEATRE ASSISTANT:


  • Perform assessment of preoperative patient care needs.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and theatre documentation including use of SystmOne.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of staff to ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers/relatives and other departments.
  • Treat all information regarding patients as confidential.
  • Ensure patients journey through Surgical Department is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Admit patients to the department, following agreed procedures and protocols. Perform baseline clinical observations, ensuring accurate completion of necessary documentation associated with the patient.
  • To ensure that the patient's valuables and possessions are cared for in accordance with Practice policy.
  • Prepare equipment, instruments and items for surgical procedure, with an awareness to avoid cost inefficiencies.
  • Assist scrub nurse to maintain asepsis and the sterile field
  • Assist in correct positioning of patient for their surgical procedure.
  • Participate in the completion of WHO Surgical Safety checklist for each patient
  • Anticipate the needs of the scrub nurse and respond effectively.
  • To be competent to use routine equipment within the department following training by an appointed person. To report any concerns in the use of this equipment to a senior member of staff.
  • Observe the patient for signs of discomfort and notify theatre team. Using empathy and reassurance, support the patient.
