There are distinct cohorts of students (including postgraduates and undergraduates) across the College, each with a separate admissions process. The Head of Admissions will manage these admissions processes and liaise with appropriate committees and funding bodies.


This is a full-time role, with particularly intense commitment required for a number of weeks at key stages in the annual admission cycle, offset by quieter periods at other times of the academic year.

  • Dealing with enquiries.
  • Assessing, meeting and interviewing applicants, providing feedback and offers.
  • Preparing materials for prospective applicants and Open Days.
  • Reporting to the College's Education and Learning Committee, Council and the Governing Body.
  • Formulate and moderate admissions and student recruitment policy with the senior team.
  • Liaising with other Colleges (for example, mature colleges or the acceptall colleges).
  • Liaise with the Bursar, Senior Tutor and other senior college officers to forecast student numbers.
  • Representing the College at relevant external University and collegiate committees and working groups.
  • Supporting offerholders and arranging offerholder events, including induction.
  • Assisting with the process for ATAS clearance and the sponsoring of student visas.
  • Respond to requests for admissions data, including from within the College, within the University and externally (for example through Freedom of Information requests)
  • Assessment of fee status.
  • Providing guidance to Directors of Studies with regard to admissions matters and working closely with them in the admissions rounds.
  • Discuss and implement additional arrangements for students of the Judge Business School and parttime students.
  • Meet with representatives of University Schools, Faculties and Departments
  • Monitor the Postgraduate Allocator
  • Liaising with the Cambridge Admissions Office (CAO), the Postgraduate Admissions Office (PAO), existing and potential donors, the Development Office and the Cambridge Trusts to attract and manage prematriculation funding for our students.
  • Formulating and securing approval for admissions policies and future strategic direction on undergraduate and postgraduate admissions in conjunction with the Senior Tutor, Director of Education, Education and Learning Committee and wider Governing Body.
  • Overseeing accurate record management and GDPR compliance on all aspects of College admissions activities (such as maintaining HEAT statistics).
  • Be an active member of the leadership team of the Tutorial Department.
  • Line management responsibility for the College's Student Outreach Officer.
They will be personable and will remain calm under pressure, with high emotional intelligence.
