An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work as part of the Support Services/Facilities Team at The Bennett Centre, Stoke-on-Trent.


You will be primarily based at The Bennett Centre on Mondays and Tuesdays but will be required to be flexible and work in other premises to provide relief domestic services across the Trust premises Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.


This post is 18 hours, five days over seven, to provide domestic services at The Bennett Centre and relief domestic services across other trust sites.

Hours and days will be variable.

Support Services Assistants within the Facilities Team provide a professional in-house specialist cleaning service.


We offer a clean, comfortable and safe environment for patients, clients, visitors and staff and members of the general public.


As a Support Service Domestic Assistant you will be expected to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for patients, visitors and staff in line with the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness.

You will be responsible on a day-to-day basis to provide a full domestic cleaning service to patient areas, offices and departments in accordance with work schedules, policies and procedures.

You will work as part of a team to provide cover for each other during annual leave, sickness and absence.

To communicate on a daily basis with patients, staff, visitors, general public and report problems to the Facilities Supervisors, Department / Service Lead

Analytical and Judgemental Skills/ Freedom to Act

To follow established procedures and schedule of work.

To seek advice from Facilities Supervisors or Department / Service Lead as necessary.


To comply with the requirements of Food Hygiene, Health & Safety legislation and the Trust's Food Safety policy as necessary.


To be responsible for the cleaning provision to client areas and offices with the premise in accordance with work schedules and activity within the area.


To comply with the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness, Health & Safety legislation and COSHH regulations and Trust policies as applicable to the job.

Planning and Organisational Skills

To have a responsibility for liaising with, Facilities Supervisors, Department / Service Lead to organise work.

Physical Skills

To ensure that the general cleaning in the premise is undertaken in accordance with the agreed work schedule

To ensure that domestic, clinical, and mixed recycling waste is correctly bagged and placed in the appropriate disposal areas in accordance with services within the premise

To ensure that all stocks are stored correctly.

To be responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen and serving area, including crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils and food trolley in accordance with services within the premise

Ensure all areas are clean and tidy, particularly prior to and following meal times as necessary.

To carry out specialist cleaning procedures in response to any infection control outbreak; new builds; refurbishments

Policy and Service Responsibilities

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team reporting any problems to the Facilities Supervisors; Department / Service Lead

Responsibility for Financial and Physical Resources

To use the Trust NHS Logistics on line ordering system for domestic / facilities products

Maintain stock control on own area, ensuring stock delivered to premise is put away.

Have responsibility for the use and security of cleaning materials and equipment

To ensure all equipment is used, cleaned and stored safely and defects or faults are reported immediately to the Facilities Supervisor,
