We have a development opportunity for the Ward Matrons position on the Special Care Baby Unit at North Tees on a permanent basis


The special care baby unit works closely with both maternity and paediatric services to deliver high quality, safe care and shared working on many local, regional and national improvement projects.


To have responsibility for the management and provision of high quality, safe care delivery on the special care baby unit at all times through effective clinical leadership.


You will provide expertise and advice in neonates to the senior nursing team as part of paediatric service development and in collaboration with obstetrics, working and leading on a number of quality improvement projects.

Day to day management of unit
- clinical expertise

Ensure safe staffing cover and absence management

Recruitment/retention of staff

Appraisals/1:1s, staff development and supervision

Facilitate change and service improvements

Patient safety, investigate safety events and ensure learning is shared and implemented

Audits, guidelines and SOPs renewal and development

Promote good quality care

Budget and financial management

Complaints and complements

Staff welfare and wellbeing
