NHS South, Central and West (SCW) are expanding our work focused on supporting Public Health.

We are keen to have a Public Health Consultant join our team as part of our wider Population Health and Inequalities portfolio.

You will lead complex and high-profile public health strategy and transformation work on behalf of SCW and our customers.

The Public Health consultant will provide credible and visible senior leadership in the delivery of significant transformation projects, programmes and consultancy assignments focusing on Public Health, Population Health and reducing health inequalities.


NHS South Central and West (SCW) is a leading provider of transformation and consultancy services across health and social care at a national, regional, and local level.

The Transformation team provides high quality, expert support to NHS organisations and partners to manage, analyse and improve performance, to transform the way services are provided for local populations.


Our customers include NHS England, ICSs/ICBs, provider trusts, general practices, and numerous social care, community care, and voluntary sector organisations.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of complex and high-profile public health strategy and transformationprogrammes, projects, and consultancy assignmentson behalf of SCW and our customers.


Key responsibilities:


  • Lead SCW teams in the development and delivery of Public Health & Population Health strategies, programmes and other work for our clients, ensuring alignment with national and local policy
  • Provide expert advice to our customers on a broad range of topics including; public health / healthcare public health, health and care policy developments, whole health and care system governance, navigation of national, regional and local networks to support and promote the development and implementation of innovation
  • Seek opportunities for SCW to add value for new and existing customers


This role sits within the Transformation Directorate, which has approximately 250 people working across a range of professional disciplines within the transformation and consultancy space.

The post holder will be allocated a Career Development Manager to support them pastorally and to support them on their career journey and they will report into an Assignment Manager for each project they are assigned to.


The post holder will play an essential part in the effective delivery of impactful projects and consultancy assignments across health and care.

This role will involve travel across the South of England and potentially further afield.
