THE OPPORTUNITY

Procurement Specialist


Due to our continued growth Team Swift are recruiting for the role of a Procurement Specialist who will be responsible for procurement of parts and associated tooling within designated category of spend.


You will have the opportunity to be part of the growing popularity of the British staycation and work within in a fast-paced, dynamic environment renowned for innovation, quality construction, stylish design and outstanding value The product Development department generate and maintain engineering drawings and bill of materials for every model, hundreds of drawing are created, modified and issued every week.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with new and existing suppliers; negotiate, agree and award new contracts and terms in a timely manner
  • Ensure appropriate price banding and commodity/currency trackers exist in contracts of supply where appropriate
  • Manage the sourcing and appointing of new suppliers by ensuring appropriate on boarding checks, audits and due diligence has taken place
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery, quality and service and react accordingly to issues and opportunities
  • Meet departmental budget forecast target for savings/increases and develop cost saving opportunities and undertake value engineering reviews with suppliers
  • Undertake RFQ's and tenders, evaluate costs and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors, as and when required
  • Obtain and manage supplier payment terms in line with the business strategy and ensure aftersales and warranty support is maintained in the supply chain
  • Work closely with the new Product Development teams to ensure the smooth introduction of new suppliers and parts to suit the business development plans
  • Liaise closely with and support the Material Control, Logistics, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Accounts and Operational functions of the business to ensure that supplier issues and problems are dealt with promptly and efficiently
  • Ensure the requirements of the Modern Slavery act and the company's ethical code are maintained at all times within the supply chain
  • Ensure certificates of origin, weight and dimension data and photographs are provided in a timely manner
  • Ensure any regulations or legislative requirements (where applicable) on the supply or sourcing of components are fully met, (e.g. GDPR, Furniture and Fire Regulations, Type Approval, Plastic Tax, and general product certification/licences (FLEGT/ FSC/ PEFC etc), are maintained through regular monitoring and auditing of suppliers
  • Be familiar with, and adhere to, company policies and procedures
  • Maintain suitable and safe levels of housekeeping at all times within the working environment, including systems and housekeeping
  • Meet your health & safety responsibilities and cooperate with management to achieve a healthy and safe workplace, taking reasonable care of yourself and others

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years' experience in a Procurement role within a manufacturing environment
  • Degree or equivalent, Procurement discipline desirable
  • CIPS qualification or working towards
  • Experienced in working with multiple supplier accounts simultaneously
  • A proven track record in achieving cost reductions
  • An effective problem solver
  • Ability to work under pressure, to concurrent deadlines, whilst maintaining adherence to process disciplines
  • Able to work at all levels within the business
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Selfstarter with a record of achievement against objectives
  • Flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic
  • Has an understanding of the importance of their Health & Safety responsibilities in line with the companies Health & Safety Policies
