LSL are one of the largest providers of services to mortgage intermediaries and franchised estate agencies and provide valuation services to many of the UK's largest mortgage lenders.


We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accountant to join our Franchised Estate Agency Finance team and play a crucial role in supporting the department.

Based within our Divisional head office in Newcastle upon Tyne, the role is offered on a Hybrid basis with the option of home and office working.


LSL is one of the largest providers of estate agency franchise services in the UK, supplying services to a network of over 300 branches across the UK.

These branches are independently managed and operated by 62 estate agency franchisees under various brands including Your Move, Reeds Rains, Intercounty, Frosts, JNP, Goodfellows, Davis Tate, Lauristons, Lawlors, Hawes & Co and Thomas Morris.


As a Trainee Accountant, you will assist in meeting our financial objectives and support the implementation of our financial strategy.


The key duties and responsibilities within the role of Trainee Accountant include:

  • Prepare financial information and management reports in compliance with Group policies and procedures within agreed timeframes.
  • Generate ad hoc reports as required.
  • Support the production of monthly profit and loss (P&L) statements with relevant analysis to assess business performance.
  • Conduct accurate and timely reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, highlighting any potential risks or opportunities to the Financial Controller.
  • Ensure finance processes operate within agreed parameters.
  • Engage in adhoc project work and reports.
  • Produce monthly performance packs for key Franchisees and their Finance Business Partners.
  • Assist in secure regular payment processes to Franchisees to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Strong Excel and PC skills, ability to manipulate and analyse data, attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and resilience.
  • Teamwork and collaboration with peers and various departments in the business.
  • Problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities, actively seeking solutions.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
