Description

The post holder is the clinical representative within a dedicated quality improvement team supporting the delivery of the Trust's quality strategy and quality improvement programmes.

Reporting to the Director of Quality Improvement, this role is integral to provide clinical leadership to support teams across the organisation with the delivery of large and complex Trust wide improvement programmes to achieve PAHT 2030.


The post holder will provide senior clinical support to the Quality First programme managers and healthcare groups to facilitate clinical engagement, influence programme benefits and to support programme/project governance.

This will be particularly relevant for the transforming our care programme of work but will contribute to all of the five priorities including our culture, digital health, corporate transformation and our new hospital.

Functional Responsibilities


The post holder will work in collaboration with the Quality First programme managers and the Deputy Director of Quality Improvement to deliver acute hospital and wider system quality improvement programmes, which are ambitious and responsive, that support the delivery of key organisational and national targets and priorities, and supports a culture of continuous quality improvement.

Prioritise a challenging workload of multiple programmes and projects, exercising analytical judgment in an extremely complex environment.

Provide clinical expertise to support the implementation of specific projects that have been designed within the multiple work streams.


Work in collaboration with and support the Deputy Medical Director for Quality to prioritise clinical leadership within programmes of work.


Use robust project management experience and be able to demonstrate the skills to facilitate all stages of the project cycle.


Analyse complex situations to gather, assimilate and interpret data (quantitative and qualitative) in order to diagnose the root problems encountered by services.


Work with members of the team to investigate the causes of any variance from target/plan and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions.

Contribute to the development of key performance indicators for projects.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.


We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Epping.

Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.

The role will include working in collaboration with all the quality first programme managers, business improvement partners, healthcare groups and system partner leadership teams to manage the day to day delivery of assigned projects and establishing appropriate governance.

In addition, the post-holder will support the team to deliver the following outcomes:


Ensure programmes have a robust assessment of quality benefits, scope and design of project plans, measures and risks, delivery and finally completion and review.


Ensure projects align with the Trust's wider Strategic objectives and deliver tangible benefits to patients, staff and delivery of our quality Strategy.


Be responsible for supporting decision-making, providing advice and be able to prepare strategic reports/briefings for the team, Board, Healthcare group leadership teams, provider organisations and NHSI.


The post holder will routinely assess and analyse data gathered from various sources, audits as and when required, in order to identify patterns and trends to enable effective and informed decision making.

Ensure timely and accurate information analysis, and reporting. To collate as required, qualitative and quantitative information and to support the implementation process and contribute to project 'products'.

Write and present reports summarising status on key programmes of work, appraising outcomes, and providing progress reports. Analyse, interpret and present data to highlight issues, risks and support decision making.
