How would you like to come and work in the new Cheshire and Merseyside Endoscopy Hub working with a dynamic and forward thinking Endoscopy decontamination unit at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust?


We are looking for Band 3 Endoscopy Higher Level Nursing Assistants, with or without experience to come and join our team.

Training and full induction programme will be provided.


You will work as part of the Endoscopy team, providing patient centred care for patients undergoing Gastroscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, EMR, ERCP, Bronchoscopy and EUS procedures.


We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals to work in the dual role of an Endoscopy decontamination assistant, with responsibilities for the reprocessing of Endoscopic equipment and providing high quality support to the registered nurses, multidisciplinary team and patients.


You should have either a previous health care experience or level III NVQ in Care or show a willingness to learn.

You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a workload in the face of competing demands.

Post holders must be aware this role is undertaken across both Hosptial sites. Full time and part time hours considered.

Endoscopy Services are currently provided Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm with a view to extending to weekend working in the future.


Ensure flexible endoscopes are decontaminated according to National and Local Decontamination standards, adhering to BSG/JAG guidelines, training will be provided.

To demonstrate adherence to the Trusts Policy on Infection Control Policy. To adhere to the principles of universal precautions in al aspects of patient care and when handling endoscopic equipment.

Take responsibility for the accurate testing, recording and monitoring of endoscopes and decontamination equipment as per departmental operational policies.

Co-ordinate the requirements for endoscopes daily for use within the Endoscopy Unit, and Theatres out of hours use.

Maintain accurate traceability records of all endoscopes, and endoscopic accessories.


Adhere to the recommendations for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and risk assessments appropriate to the department.

Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.

Assist is patient care in both recovery area and procedure rooms.

Provide reassurance and support to patients and their partners and families.

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

Provide escort / chaperone and transfer for patients as directed.

Routine housekeeping duties as required.
