Are you an experienced Buyer in the West Yorkshire area, with castings experience?


This specialist provider of flow control solutions is presently looking for an experienced Castings Buyer to join their ever-growing team in West Yorkshire.

About The Role


As a Castings Buyer, you will support the Procurement Manager in delivering materials and services, in accordance with the lead times agreed with each supplier.

You will maintain communication with suppliers throughout the purchasing process, delivering projects in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.


You will initially operate from my client's office in the West Yorkshire area, before moving to a 2-day home / 3-days office arrangement, once fully operational.

After the completion of your induction and product training, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing category sourcing strategies
  • Managing the spend analysis and tender process
  • Evaluating new products to promote cost savings
  • Negotiating cost and lead time reductions with suppliers
  • Providing professional procurement support to the supply chain team
  • The procurement of materials to fulfil sales orders
  • Analysing supplier quotations and delivery times
  • Selecting appropriate suppliers
  • Preparing and issuing purchase orders
  • Liaising with the Stores department to ensure all raw materials are booked into stock
  • Introducing improvement initiatives with suppliers
  • Continually looking for opportunities to reduce cost

About You
You must have experience buying Castings and be comfortable working in an Engineering/manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you can interpret and read technical specifications and drawings and understand machining components/materials.


An understanding of the purchasing workflow and experience using SRM / CRM systems would also be highly advantageous, as would an Engineering qualification such as a Degree / HND / HNC.
