The Role:


  • You will report directly to the Laboratory Manager
  • Manage and coordinate the day to day technical activities of the team
  • Process biomedical specimens
  • Analyse and interpret results
  • Be responsible for standard and quality of results and service
  • Sample management (Manage the accession, processing, and storage of samples)
  • Sample analysis (Manage the testing, validation, and quality improvement of the analysis process)
  • Report management (Manage the generation and validation of reports and how data is managed)
  • Laboratory management (Ensure SOPs are followed, manage clinical and health and safety training)
  • Analyser management (Manage the QC/Calibration, setup, operation of analysers)
  • Quality assurance (Manage Internal QA, External QA, General QC & compliance)
  • Inventory management (Manage maintenance of consumables and reagents stock)
  • Staff management (Manage team, arrange team meetings, performance management)

Requirements:

HCPC Registered as a Biomedical Scientist:

  • Experience as senior BMS or equivalent position
  • Indepth knowledge of laboratory best practices and QHSE Systems

Experience with analysers from Werfen, Beckman Coulter, Sebia, Cepheid, Alifax:

  • Knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems
  • Ability to operate and use LIMs
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure and support/manage a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Quick learning and problem solving skills
