Come and join our friendly team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants.


Through the development and progression of existing staff an exciting opportunity has developed for an enthusiastic, self-motivated full time Pharmacy Assistant within the Pharmacy Aseptic Manufacturing Unit.

You will be involved in the production and the supply of different types of sterile injectable medicines for patients at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital and across North Wales.

To participate in the preparation of limited range of aseptic products for stock use


This involves:

  • Making aseptically produced batched products (e.g. Central Intravenous Additive (CIVA) products, aseptic syringes, cytotoxic syringes) in clean rooms and isolators using a no touch technique to maintain product sterility.
Setting-up of individual products/batches including cytotoxics in accordance with SOP's which involves:

  • Selecting correct ingredients.
Recording all necessary information i.e. patient name/batch no, expiry dates on prepared worksheets.

Disinfection of ingredients prior to their use according to SOP's.

Manipulation of products in a controlled environment using a no touch technique according to SOP's.

Labelling of finished products.

Maintaining work area and equipment to meet strict clean room requirements in SOP's.

Disposal of all waste material according to SOPs

Undertaking regular aseptic technique validation assessments to ensure competency

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
