We specialise in nurturing Emotional Literacy skill, boosting self-esteem and supporting a growth mindset by using a relationship focused approach.

Providing a range of services for children from birth and we also work with adults too. We are on a mission to make changes to the mental health of children in our city


Key Responsibilities


The job role of Child Wellbeing Practitioner is a unique role that allows professionals to deliver 1:1 support to children struggling to manage big and difficult emotions, have low self-esteem, who require a supportive and neutral mentor, or who are identified as being vulnerable.

You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives.

The practitioner will work within a relationship focused model to ensure they are a supportive, empathic and non-judgmental space for a young person.

To operate as a neutral mentor and advocate for the service user.


What we are looking for


We are looking for individuals who relate well to young people and are passionate about wanting to help and support them and make positive impact.


  • TAs with experience delivering 1:1 interventions
  • Family support workers
  • Level 3 healthcare assistants with experience in mental health
  • Youth workers
  • Experienced and qualified people from the children and young person's workforce
  • Passionate about being proactive around mental health and emotional education
  • Proven track work history of working with children
  • Confident and empathetic
  • The ability to manage and prioritise your workload.
  • Willingness to attend training relevant to the role such as safeguarding level 3, first aid, trauma training etc.
  • Work well within a team.
  • IT skills and the ability to keep clear and accurate records.
  • A full drivers licence.

At Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health C.I.C we are very aware of the impact of increased pressure and workload on our own mental health, so we are advocates for constructing an open and honest policy whereby staff can feel they can communicate any concerns.

We require individuals to be able to be emotionally resilient and be able to stay on top of challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.

Team meetings will be held regularly, and the employee will be expected to participate in this when possible, bringing ideas and innovation about the service, to the process.

Bridge the Gap full training will be provided.


The hours for the position are 37.5 set hours across the week Monday - Friday with opportunity for overtime hours on a Saturday.


The hours below are an essential requirement:
2 x late shifts - 11am - 7pm within the week.

3 x - 5pm within the week.

You are also expected to attend four Saturday (9am - 3pm) whole team CPD training days per year.
