Exciting opportunities have arisen in NHS Ayrshire & Arran to appoint a number of Assistant Practitioners within our Acute services at University Hospital Ayr and University Hospital Crosshouse.

We are looking for motivated, caring and compassionate individuals who have experience working in a healthcare environment.

You should be able to work well as part of a large and diverse multidisciplinary team.

Hours of work will be to meet the needs of the service, and covering 24/7 period.

Assistant Practitioners are required to work towards completing a relevant qualification at SCQF level 8 Examples of common qualifications:

  • Higher National Certificate/ Diploma (HNC/D)
  • Professional Development Award (PDA) at Level 8
Training will be provided


The purpose of the role is to work under the supervision of Registered Nurses to assist patients in their care: undertake baseline assessments within clearly defined parameters for the identified service; Implement, adapt and progress treatment programmes within agreed protocols and defined parameters; use specialist technical and practical skills to deliver flexible, patient-centred programmes across a variety of clinical settings, and discharge or transition care within agreed protocols and defined parameters.
