Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights), in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-long read lengths.

IP is an important and valuable asset for the company that protects our innovation.

Working with external patent attorneys and licensors worldwide, the IP team is responsible for the filing and prosecution of ONT's growing patent portfolio.


We are looking for an IP Administrator, to work with the Senior Formalities Manager, to provide patent and trade-mark formalities support.


The Details...

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Management of IP database; data entry for new and existing patent and trademark cases
  • Management of invoices
  • Providing administrative support to the IP team
  • Management of diaries for IP team
  • Management of internal folders
  • National Phase and Confirmatory Assignments, Liaising with inventors
  • Obtaining Patent translations via translation service provider
  • Preparing Information Disclosure statements/providing copies of prior art documents
  • Any other duties as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post.
  • Liaise with external attorneys/university tech transfer departments

What We're Looking For...
We'll expect you to have a background in administrative and office work with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an eye for detail.


You know your way around Microsoft office, can work independently with mínimal supervision and under pressure and enjoy using your initiative to aid decision making.

In addition, you understand the importance of taking a confidential approach.


This role will suit someone interested in working for a fast-paced global organisation who is able to work with tight deadlines.

Whilst previous experience of IP and patent formalities would be beneficial, it is not essential.
