OTM Operator/Maintainer

Team:
Rail Milling Operations

Location:
UK Mobile

Reports to:
Rail Milling Operations Manager

Deputises for:
Maintenance Supervisor as appropriate

Role Deputy:
Other Machine Operators

Purpose of the Role
Weekend, Christmas & Night work will all be included in the shift pattern. Some working away from home will be required (company will facilitate).

Job depending on passing relevant Railway Standard Medicals, full Job Description will be given at interview.

Principal Accountabilities

Responsible for booking on and off duty at the time and place directed by duty manager or senior production manager
Wear personal protective clothing P.P.C. as supplied
Maintain clear and open communications, verbal and written, with Rugby Rail Plant Control Room
Help Desk
Work to a safe and competent standard
Responsible for absorbing and retaining knowledge trained on
Carry out emergency procedures as and when required

OTM Operating

Full Training will be given on the operation of the OTMs
Responsible to, and if possible, repair service faults and failures
Report all service faults and failures immediately both in writing and verbally to the Rugby Rail Plant Control Desk
Help Desk
Operate on track machines in accordance with Railway Standards
Carry out all aspects of maintenance and safety checks and assist specialist Fitter staff when fixing a machine breakdown or problem

Maintain

Maintaining the machine safely and effectively, as instructed by the Milling or Maintenance Supervisor.
Transportation of and replacement of milling wheel carbide tips. Core role.
Reporting any machine defects to the Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
Undertake any other duties if assessed as competent to do so

Person Specification

Full UK Driving Licence (Cat C1 beneficial
Flexible approach to work location including the ability to lodge away from home when required
A keen eye for detail
Safety always kept as a priority

PTS
Core competencies of Fitter Foundation Course
Operation of the rail miller.
Fire Training
Emergency First Aid
Depot /Yard Induction
