In 2016 when the police resources and budget were beginning to draw out, David McKelvey our CEO and former Detective chief inspector, created
My Local Bobby LTD which has established itself as the most effective security services provider in the UK and within this year we have also become NSI accredited.


My Local Bobby started out with 1 residential beat in Stradbroke drive Chigwell to showcase how our bobbies work alongside homeowners and stake holders to create safer communities and to this day the Stradbroke community still enjoy our services.

In the past few years, we have grown exponentially and now have 30 contracts throughout London and Essex which range between, residential, public realm and corporate.


My local bobby is a growing company and now has over 100 staff and almost 100 of them are bobbies that we have working in sites across the different BIDS in London and Essex.


My Local Bobby Ltd are looking for Ambitious and detail-oriented persons to join our Organisation in the Role of Environmental Street Warden in The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

JOB PURPOSE:


As an environmental enforcement Officer, the main purpose of your role is to deter crime and antisocial behaviour whilst promoting community safety and reduce residents' fear of crime.

You and your partner will ensure the highways and other areas in RBKC are kept in clean condition from all forms of waste starting from litter to graffiti.

You will investigate complaints about any matter that is detrimental to the street scene and gather evidence to support action against those committing crime, this can be environmental crime to antisocial behaviour.

You will provide a high visibility patrol service and respond to emergencies when called upon. You will build relationships with residents through different types of events throughout the community.

When being faced with environmental crime or antisocial behaviour throughout the day you will be expected to create detailed reports to present in court if necessary.

You will also issue fixed penalty notices to those committing offences.

Within your role you will be obliged to:

2.1 To carry out patrols as directed on foot, by bicycle and in a vehicle, and to carry out daily checks for roadworthiness.


2.2 To detect graffiti, fly-posting and other enviro-crime, identify the person or company responsible for it and take enforcement action when possible.

2.3 To deal with the safe removal of 'sharps'.

2.4 To take part in joint patrols, including weapon sweeps, and contribute to multi-agency initiatives.

2.5 To provide crime prevention advice and undertake cycle marking.

2.6 To use CCTV to capture evidence that can be used in prosecution.

2.7 To act as a professional witness, produce contemporaneous reports and attend court when required.

2.8 To report defects with Council property, equipment or facilities and ensure appropriate action is taken.

2.9 To monitor areas where anti-social behaviour or illegal activities may be occurring.

2.10 To ensure fleet vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy condition. To ensure licenses and insurance are valid. To complete all related documentation to comply with legislative and operational requirements.

2.11 To provide intelligence reports for inputting to the Police partnership intel system.

2.12 To assist with HEMS landings in parks and open spaces.

2.13 To move people on when a dispersal zone is in place.

2.14 To detect abandoned bicycles or other objects on the highway and ensure they are removed.

2.15 To enforce against breaches of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs).


2.16 To move on beggars and rough sleepers, working with partners to find support and accommodation for those who are vulnerable.

2.17 To encourage responsible dog ownership and detect offences relating to dogs, taking enforcement action when appropriate.

2.18 To take part in community events.

2.19 To attend relevant training courses.

2.20 To respond to civil and Council emergencies in accordance with emergency procedures.

2.21 To fully comply with the provisions of all relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.

2.22 To undertake other reasonable duties as required by your manager.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with all members of the community.
  • Ability to observe situations, record information clearly and write brief reports. Ability to interview members of the public and to observe and record evidence, and to appear in court as a professional witness (after training).
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and when dealing with people who may be upset or angry.
  • Ability to work in partnership with other agencies such as the Police.
  • Ability to use (after training) surveillance and recording equipment including video, digital cameras and mobile CCTV.
  • Willingness to wear a uniform and an ability to patrol the borough on foot and by bicycle.
