Risk Finance Consultant


The Risk Finance Consultant will be responsible for supporting the Head of Risk Finance in developing optimal risk finance strategies for Lockton's clients that supports, enhances, and protects their enterprise risk management strategies.

Informed by analytics,this role will include deploying expertise in risk finance consulting as well as alternative (re)insurance solution design and placement to enable our clients to make informed decisions on their optimal mix of retained vs transferred risk.

A high performing Associate in this role will preferably possess substantial experience in either a broker, insurer or consultancy specializing in one or more of the following areas:

  • alternative risk
- actuarial consulting and / or statistical analysis
- captive consulting
- accounting and / or financial analysis


The Risk Finance Consultant will work within the Risk Practices team in London reporting to the Head of Risk Finance for Lockton International.

You will also be expected to form close links across multiple stakeholders within Lockton and with the US RiskFinance Team to support and execute Lockton's global strategy in this area.


The Risk Finance Consultant's time & projects will be varied across different geographies and projects, as Lockton continues to expand its international operations which may require international travel from time to time.

The role also requires confidencein supporting both existing clients and new business projects and the associate should be comfortable working with imperfect information when required to develop solutions for our clients.

Ideally, the Risk Finance Consultant will have good working experience in risk finance or a similar related role (such as underwriting, broking or consulting) and / or extensive interest in:

  • Large corporate insurance programme design
  • Risk finance mechanisms including captive insurance arrangements & principles as well as other alternative risk structures
  • Actuarial analysis and outputs and be able to read, interpret and explain the analysis
  • Financial analysis or accounting with the ability to develop & communicate pros and cons of solutions and outline any related client financial implications

In addition, the following technical skills are required:

  • Strong numerate academic background and ideally Degree level in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or Economics
  • The ability to prepare diagrams, reports, and presentations to outline key analysis conclusions
  • Good oral and written communication skills and be able to convey complex topics and analysis with a wide variety of audiences and lead projects to conclusion
  • Autonomous identification of key tasks for a project without a formulaic model or plan
  • Command of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to set reasonable expectations and meet deadlines
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to perform technical review of analysis prepared by others
  • Handle multiple projects while reviewing needs for future projects
  • Intellectual curiosity and problemsolving ability & quick to understand the business model of various companies
  • Works effectively individually and in a teamoriented group setting
