  • To work as a psychologist in the service, providing clinical services directly to people with complex mental health problems and their families/carers and supporting the service and its staff to use strategies that enhance the psychological wellbeing of people who use this service and their families and/or carers.
  • To provide expert psychological assessment and reports, both written and verbal, to referrers of people with a wide range of psychological problems, in accordance with codes of professional ethics
  • To formulate and implement plans for formal psychological intervention and/or management of a client's psychological difficulties, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods of proven efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
  • To manage a specialist caseload autonomously and within the criteria directed by the Trust. To make difficult decisions about priorities and clinical issues.

Come and be part of a supportive and friendly community, adult mental health team based in Cannock looking to welcome a new psychologist.

We are an integrated team made up of a range of professionals who are passionate about implementing psychologically informed care through shared goals and initiatives.

Psychology is embedded in the team through Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Clinical Associates in Psychology and Assistant Psychologists to deliver individual and group therapies, psychoeducation groups and stabilisation skills.

We also support the team to deliver psychologically informed care through consultation, training, supervision and service development.

As the psychological professionals in the team we work together closely, this includes regular psychology meetings to offer shared reflective space and opportunities for learning and development.

Psychologists are part of the leadership both in the service and the wider Trust.

The development of psychological services throughout the trust is supported through regular meetings, supervision and an annual conference for psychological services.


You will work closely with other psychology staff who use a range of approaches including CFT, ACT, CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic work.

We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate course at Staffordshire University, the Counselling Psychology Doctorate course at Wolverhampton University and the Clinical Associate in Psychology course at Keele University and regularly offer trainee placements and teaching.

There are frequent opportunities to develop our clinical and leadership skills.

The Trust has robust in-house training in a range of areas including stages the full range of accredited EMDR training and the Leadership Super Series.

Training and interests are further supported through a range of supervision and interest groups including in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Therapy (ISTDP), EMDR and Compassion-Focussed Therapy.

We are actively supported in our development through a robust and collaborative appraisal process.
