Purpose of the Role and Key Responsibilities:

The role of the Nursery Deputy Manager is a full time position and is to ensure all children attending the Nursery receive high quality care are kept safe and are provided with planned and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs and supportall aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

The Deputy Manager will lead and manage the staff team alongside the Manager, motivating them with a shared sense of direction and energy.

In the absence of the Nursery Manager, assume her/his role ensuring that high standards of care and education continue to be provided to the children.


Other key responsibilities include:


  • To plan and deliver effective management of the nursery, in accordance with the nursery operational plan, long term plan and selfevaluation requirements. (SEF and Nursery Improvement Development Plan).
  • To ensure the nursery complies with all relevant legislation, plus local authority and OFSTED requirements.
  • To ensure the provision is of the highest quality at all times and strives to attain the highest ratings such as OFSTED "outstanding".
  • To manage the nursery's Improvement Development Plan.
  • To ensure that the nursery target occupancy levels are met.
  • Responsibility for the recruitment with support from the HR and Recruitment Manager and overall management of all childcare and other staff.
  • To ensure that you and all staff adhere to nursery policies, procedure and guidelines.
  • To ensure safeguarding children and staff is your priority.
  • To promote and maintain our reputation for providing exemplary practice.
  • To manage and continuously improve the delivery of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Ensure there is management cover 8.00 a.m p.m. Monday to Friday, 50 weeks of the year. (Excludes nursery closure dates).

Hours: 40 hours per week/ partly room based
Minimum 1 years' experience in leading a team in a management position

Salary up to £29,000 gross per annum
