Our Women & Children's research team is growing


Following the successful and ongoing growth of our research team we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic research administrator to join our team for 22.5 hours per week.

This is for a fixed term period until 31stMarch 2024, at which point the role will be reviewed.


The post holder will support our band 4 administrator in the delivery of research across the team's portfolio of studies, including gynae NICU and maternity studies.

You will be working alongside our band 4 research administrator to provide support to our dynamic team of research nurses, midwives and the wider research team


Duties include:

  • Arranging meetings
  • Recording, typing and circulation of minutes
  • Sort, distribute and prioritise incoming queries, using judgement and experience to decide which documents are to be passed to the governance team, which to escalate to senior research midwife and which may be dealt with
  • Maintaining up to date trial site files
  • Track research participants using NBT IT systems to ensure research nurses/midwives are aware of potential and exiting trials participants hospital attendances
  • Prepare for and support monitoring visits
  • Ensure adequate study supplies and request when needed
The Women's and Children's research team is based within the women's quarter of Southmead hospital. We are a friendly team consisting mainly of research midwives and nurses who work with the wider research organisation to deliver our portfolio of studies across maternity, gynacology and NICU

Additional responsibilities

  • Prioritise and organise own workload to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of own and department workflow
  • Use initiative and manage own workload independently, only referring to Line Manager when difficulties are encountered
  • Promote systems and excellent communication between research delivery team and internal/external parties and ensure this is maintained by:
  • Attending team meetings to provide/receive feedback
  • Ensuring there is an effective system in place for passing on messages
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment for self, internal and external visitors
  • Handling personal, sensitive (commercially and otherwise), confidential information
