Lewisham Adult Therapy Team
- An exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to lead community physiotherapy services at Lewisham Adult Therapy Team (LATT), one of three main sites of Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust. We are looking to recruit a motivated Physiotherapist to provide clinical, operational, and professional leadership to the community physiotherapy service within the Lewisham Borough.
You will lead a large team of physiotherapists, support workers and business support team (approximately 40 staff) providing therapy to patients in the community across intermediate care bedded rehabilitation unit and clinical pathways in the community.
This post would suit a highly specialist Physiotherapist who has achieved expertise in their own professional field and is now ready to expand knowledge and skills to work in this key operational and leadership role.
You will be passionate about improving the community physiotherapy service and working collaboratively with the wider Trust to support patient care.
A strong emphasis is placed on development of staff with good access to internal and external support for ongoing development.
The physiotherapy department is a very inclusive environment to work in and is keen to continue to highlight the importance of this working closely with our local community.
Your responsibility will be for community physiotherapy in Lewisham and work very closely with the other community leads for occupational therapy and speech and language therapy, but you will also be part of the wider Therapies Team.
The role will be directly accountable to the head of therapies, with professional support from the head of adult physiotherapy and work closely with other therapy leads and community partners.

Job Summary:
- The Lead Community Physiotherapist will manage Community Physiotherapists working in both Intermediate Care Services( including bed based rehabilitation) and general community, including Stroke and Falls pathways. Close working with other Community Therapy Leads, and Operational Managers within Social Care is essential.
- To provide clinical, professional and operational leadership to the Community Physiotherapy service for Lewisham working in collaboration with Lead Community Occupational Therapist and Lead Community Speech and Language Therapist.
- To ensure Community Physiotherapy services are proactive and supportive of Lewisham and Greenwich Trust (LGT) objectives.
- To work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across health and social care to support integration around patient care
- To deliver a highly specialised and advanced standard of Physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management for patients
Key Result Areas & Performance:
- To be the Lead Community Physiotherapist (Lewisham) for Lewisham and Greenwich Trust (LGT), advising on Community Physiotherapy issues, working closely with the Head of Therapy and representing Community Physiotherapy within the Trust and to outside agencies, as required
1.3 To work closely with community and social care colleagues to develop effective rapid response and discharge support services to ensure patients receive appropriate community support that will avoid hospital admissions and facilitate discharge home form hospital.
1.5 To initiate, develop and implement innovative models of service delivery in collaboration with the Therapy Manager and in partnership with AHP and service managers within the LGT and London Borough of Lewisham (LBL)
1.6 To be responsible for maintaining advanced knowledge of relevant health and social care initiatives and legislation, and to implement improvements in practice to meet these.
1.7 To actively participate in meetings with the Head of Therapy and operational meetings with the senior community staff, in order to advise on all aspects of the LGT Community Physiotherapy Service.
1.9 To provide cover for other Therapy leads in their absence as required
1.10 To ensure that own practice and service meets agreed local and national standards and clinical governance requirements
1.12 To lead and participate in clinical work and to promote a high standard of expertise within Community Physiotherapy, and to ensure these standards are maintained by all staff.
