We are looking for a passionate and committed individual to work as a Maternity Support Worker (MSW) in the Community, band 3.
This is an excellent opportunity to support the community midwifery team in Newmarket and surrounding areas.
The MSW is an important and integral part of the team and applicants must be willing and able to act on their own initiative and organise their workload effectively to ensure safe care to pregnant people and their families within West Suffolk Hospital community setting.
This is a fixed term post with various hours available.
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for providing personalised care to approximately 2,400 women during their childbirth experience.
We offer both choice of lead professional and place of birth at home, on our co-located MLBU or multi-professional labour suite.
This role is a community Maternity Support Worker (MSW) to the Forest Heath Team of community midwives based in Newmarket.
The team consists of midwives and maternity support workers providing antenatal and postnatal care to families within our geographical area.
The primary role of the Maternity Support Worker (MSW) is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team; to provide a safe and holistic approach to woman centred care.
To carry out a plan of care, devised by the midwife, to pregnant people, babies, and families within the community setting.
Frequent Travel Essential - You will need to travel, so you must either hold a full, current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

The West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds provides acute and secondary care services (emergency department, maternity and neonatal services, day surgery unit, eye treatment centre, Macmillan unit and children's ward).
Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.
