Exciting opportunity for a new post within the Black Country and West Birmingham LMNS, to become the LMNS Pre-Term Birth Lead for 12 months

  • To lead and facilitate the implementation of the Regional Under 27week Pathway
  • Work in collaboration with midwifery, neonatal and medical colleagues to ensure that at 85% of expected births under 27 week (28 weeks for multiple births) take place in the most appropriate setting
  • Form and develop a multidisciplinary team approach to achieving the pathway and national expectations, coordinating multidisciplinary groups as part of fostering the desired culture of a system approach to maternity and neonatal care across the LMNS. This may involve highly contentious, highly sensitive information at times, in influencing system partners to change clinical practice
  • Take a lead role in supporting the development family focused information explaining the pathway for premature births
  • Lead the work to develop the system wide Video Safety Huddles to ensure safe capacity management across the LMNS.
  • Following detailed analysis of existing arrangements and provision, develop a system wide specialist pathway to ensure women receive the appropriate follow up and advice, post transfer discharge, when preterm birth does not occur. This will involve the provision of highly specialist advice in relation to quality assurance of patient care for preterm babies.
