Description
Established in 1830 G E Gamble & Sons have been providing a
professional and personal funeral service to the families of Syston,
and surrounding areas of Leicestershire, for over 190 years.
We are a family business, looking to hire a Funeral Services Assistant to join our team to help assist us in maintaining a high professional standard in the services that we provide families.
The role will be primarily mortuary based to prepare and care for the deceased, in addition to being our main driver/bearer on funerals.
Key Accountabilities
The dressing and preparation of deceased for chapel viewings.
Preparing coffins and name plates.
Stocktake of coffins, gowns etc.
Removal of deceased persons from their place of repose.
Assistance with 24 hour out-of-hour removals
Taking deceased into church or home address the morning or evening before the funeral.
The bearing of coffins and driving of vehicles on funerals.
Organising, preparing and conducting ash interments.
The general maintenance of funeral vehicles and equipment, such as washing and preparing for funerals.
The general housekeeping, upkeep and cleanliness of all areas e.g. chapels and mortuary.
The administration of funeral accounts.
You will have and be expected to maintain a clean driving licence.
General basic admin duties
Required Skills:
You will be expected to maintain a smart appearance and attention to detail are essential.
Good level of fitness and physical ability, as manual handling is an essential part of the role.
Empathy and understanding the bereaved families' needs
Experience in dealing with customers in sensitive situations.
Experience in handling confidential and sensitive data.
You will be expected to use your own initiative to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Experience of working in the funeral industry is preferred but not essential as training can be given to the right applicant.
Be computer literate (word, excel, outlook); experience in Funeral Management System would be desirable, although not necessaryHours of Work:
Mon-Fri, 9AM-5PM (40 hours per week) with occasional out-of-hours call outs.

Annual Holiday: 28 days inclusive of bank holidays

£22,500.00 per year
