I am working with and NHS Trust based in Essex who are looking for an experienced Finance Manager for 5 months.

The role is full time, to start ASAP and is paying £34.14 PAYE or £43.54 Umbrella per hour. The role is in scope of IR35.


Job Purpose


This is a senior role within the Finance Directorate and the post holder will form part of the management team of the Directorate.

The post holder's main duties will be to manage the Financial Service department to ensure that that all financial accountingfunctions are completed in a timely and effective manner and that the Trust operates within a strong financial control framework.

The Financial Services Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the department to ensure the team is able to provide a professional and efficient service to internal and external stakeholders whilst maintaining proper financial records.

That theTrust operates within a strong financial control framework through the development and implementation of financial procedures thus ensuring the achievement of current and future financial targets and to provide financial advice to all interested parties bothinternal and external.

The Financial Services Manager will specifically be responsible for the management of staff within the Financial Service undertaking appraisal interviews, agreeing personal development plans and ensuring all staff are compliant with the Trusts mandatory trainingrequirements, leading on the Trust's annual accounts, its quarterly Monitor returns and monthly board reporting.


Essential Duties

  • To provide high level financial advice and support to the Trust and in particular in issues relating to the Trust's estate and its capital accounting.
  • To lead on the production of the annual accounts and its submission within the deadlines set by Monitor.
  • To draft and agree the Year End Timetable within the Finance directorate and other departments concerned, including SERCO.
  • To ensure all working papers are accurate and of the required external audit standard.

Essential Qualifications:


  • Degree or equivalent
  • CCAB qualified
  • Requirement to maintain CPD with CCAB body

Essential experience:


  • Extensive experience working within a finance environment
  • Significant experience working in a financial services within an NHS organisation
  • Extensive experience of cash flow forecasting, monthly management account and year end accounts.
  • Significant experience of staff management, appraisals and staff development.
