The Neurosurgery team are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of MDT Assistant within our Skull Base team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The role involves assisting the MDT Coordinator in the processing of referrals and preparation for the MDT meetings.


As a member of the Skull Base team, you will enjoy working closely with the consultants, specialist nurses, radiologists, secretaries and outpatient staff as well as dealing with members of the public on the telephone.


The role is very busy, so your skills should include excellent organisational, communication and administrative skills, alongside the ability to work as part of a team and prioritise work to meet deadlines.

JOB SUMMARY

  • MDT Meetings preparation, support during meeting, delivery of actions after meeting
  • Updating Information Systems
  • Liaising with MDT teams to ensure good preparation for meetings, and actions from meetings are carried out
  • Patient Tracking and Navigation
  • Communication and coordination with MDTs of patient care pathway
  • Support MDT Coordinator team with meetings, as required
Principal Aims

  • The preparation of the MDT Meeting
  • The identification of patients and the provision of the required information for clinical discussion.
  • Working closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team clinical leads, members of the MDT and other members of the Coordinating Team to achieve aims of service.

Specific Responsibilities


The range of tasks will include:

  • To be responsible for the identification and correction of missing data
  • To meet deadlines as set by the MDT Coordinator and if necessary member of Neurosurgery team
  • To process Skull Base referrals in a timely fashion adding the details to multiple systems and requesting information as appropriate to support the patients' referral including requesting images to support the MDT.
  • To process rejections for the service with a template letter
  • To be responsible for the provision of timely and accurate information to other staff disciplines
  • To provide the MDT members with appropriately produced information
  • To liaise with Radiology, neurology outpatients and health records to ensure that patients information is uptodate on the patient information system
  • To provide general administrative duties to the multidisciplinary team to include ensuring adequate stocks of stationery are maintained and liaising with colleagues to ensure these items are ordered when required, photocopying, filing, basic clerical duties and distributing documents quickly and efficiently
  • To carry out followup on those patients discussed at the MDT ensuring, the treatment plan and all other relevant information is disseminated to relevant care providers and investigations, procedures and Outpatient appointments are made.
  • Answer telephone calls when coordinators are out of the office or when required and action appropriately.
  • Open and appropriately manage all post delivered to department, date stamp and action appropriately.
  • To provide cover for the Skull Base MDT Coordinator during planned or unexpected leave.
  • To carry out any other duties as required by the post
