Job summary:

The Air C2ISR Science Adviser will be responsible for the provision of science and technology (S&T) advice, support and challenge across Air Command.

This role sits within the Science Advice (SciA) function of Defence Science and Technology (DST) and is advertised at 37 hours per week.

DST works under the direction of MOD's Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA) to maximise the impact of S&T for the defence and security of the UK.

It commissions MOD's Core Research Programme, which is delivered by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), industry and academia.

SciA maintains a network of Scientific Advisers (SciAdvs) providing impartial scientific advice to Head Office and the Front-Line Commands.

The Air C2ISR SciAdv will help the RAF deliver battle-winning capabilities across the broad areas of Integrated Air & Missile Defence (IAMD), Air Surveillance, and the Air Command & Control (C2) & Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) delivery programmes, by exploiting technological advances and innovations from a wide variety of sources.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

SciAdvs engage closely with the DST Commissioning team to drive effectiveness in the CSA research portfolio so that expected outcomes/benefits are realised and outputs are exploited.
