Senior Benefits Specialist

Gilead Sciences, Inc.

This position will ideally be based in our offices in Stockley Park, UK or remote within the UK

The Sr.

Benefits Specialist is a key member of the Total Rewards COE team and will manage programs and vendors that contribute to the Health & Wellbeing benefits strategy and delivery for Gilead's non-US employees.

This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, communications and delivery of these programs, while also managing projects within the benefits function.

Benefits Specialist, you will:

  • Work with and report to the Associate Director, International Health & Wellbeing Benefits
  • Manage the programs and vendor relationships of:
  • Health benefits (medical insurance, checkups, etc.)-
  • Risk protection (life insurance, disability/income protection)-
  • Time off / leave of absence policies-
  • Wellbeing programs-
  • Other benefits as assigned-
  • Partner with external consultants (e.g. global broker)and internal partners (e.g. HR Shared Services, Payroll, People Technology, etc.) to execute annual benefit processes such as insured policy renewals and enrolment windows
  • Evaluate program effectiveness regularly using plan data and stakeholder input, provide recommendations for existing or new programs to improve effectiveness and maintain company's competitive position
  • Maintain compliance with legislative updates, local regulations and company policies and procedures concerning benefits
  • Provide support to the HR Shared Services team on all escalated health and wellbeing benefit related issues and inquiries
  • Partner with members of the Gilead Total Rewards team on ad hoc benefit events, programs and projects from design to implementation including, but not limited to, acquisition integration and country expansion-
  • Assist in developing or reviewing materials for benefits orientations, annual enrolment and plan documents
  • Support delivery of excellent employee experience, and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and external vendors/partners by providing timely and accurate responses to requests and inquiries
  • Seek opportunities for efficiency and excellence at every step
  • Participate in the updating/completion of benefit surveys
  • Participate in any systems related implementations or enhancements that affect benefits systems, including user acceptance testing

Benefits Specialist, you will have:

  • Strong and adaptive communication skills
  • Ability to think critically, analytically and solve complex problems
  • Ability to collaborate crossfunctionally and cross different time zones in an effective manner
  • Working knowledge of HR, Payroll & Benefits systems, and processes; experience with Workday and Darwin is preferred
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint, Outlook; intermediate Excel skills including Pivot Tables and V-Lookup
  • Proven ability to be a selfstarter and work effectively in a fastpaced, highgrowth environment
  • Effective planning and priority setting skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to details
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits plan designs, funding, and administration
  • Ability to understand and evaluate benefit contracts
  • Demonstrate an understanding of employment and labour laws and regulations related to benefits design and administration

Qualifications:


  • Strong experience managing employee benefits across different countries/markets preferred
  • Experience working with HR shared services model preferred
  • Certification by recognized HR organization such as CEBS, IFEBP, SHRM or HRCI preferred
  • Foreign language skill is a plus
