The ICS Legacy Mentor Lead role should appeal to an experienced health or social care professional who is passionate about leading our exciting new legacy mentoring programme.


You will be closely working with our ICS Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional legacy mentors to embed these new roles across the system and help them flourish.

Your aim will be to co-produce a service that maximises our ability to retain and develop our early careers staff.


The lead role will be an advocate for our legacy mentor services by promoting its role, core duties, and the expected benefits to all our key stakeholders.

This role will be key in leading a service that supports newly qualified colleagues to stay and stay well. You will need to be confident in building relationships and collaborating with others.

You will be providing leadership, governance, and support as part of your role and through a new community of practice.


Using a quality improvement methodology, data collection, analysis and sharing of key outcome metrics the lead role will help demonstrate how legacy mentors can add value to our services.


The lead role will take responsibility for establishing and developing our new legacy mentors into a variety of different health care settings across our system.

By taking a collaborative approach, the lead role will work closely with all our legacy mentors and key stakeholders to maximise this fixed funding offer.

The Legacy Mentor role is an experienced health and social care professional in the mid-late stages of their career.

They will provide support to early career nurses, midwives, AHPs and those transitioning into new clinical roles by imparting knowledge, skills, and experience through coaching, mentoring and supporting them in the early stages of their newly chosen career.

They will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, be passionate about the profession and be able to provide pastoral support to others, facilitating career conversations to support retention and reduce attrition.
