We are looking for a new Assistant Director of Finance - Productivity and Efficiency (1 year fixed term contract) to join our ambitious team and support the delivery of safe, high quality, sustainable and effective services.

We are seeking an Assistant director of Finance who will play a proactive role, working with our Transformation team and a range of senior leaders across the organisation to drive sustainable improvements as we look to recover our elective backlog, improve patient care and address the significant productivity challenge that we are currently facing as an NHS.

You will bring a strong track record of leadership at a senior level.


The primary purpose of this role is to lead on the delivery of the Trust's productivity and financial savings challenge, which is significant in nature.


The postholder will play a key role in the communication of the financial agenda working closely with the Associate Director of Transformation and Divisional Leadership Teams.


The postholder will be a key member of the senior finance team, supporting the Trust to deliver its objectives to achieve financial sustainability, and will work with the Director of Finance to provide leadership across the Operational Finance Team.

You will contribute towards the Trust's improvement plan and Trust-wide change projects


Working closely with the Director of Finance and other members of the senior team, you will act on their behalf in a wide range of settings with a particular focus on supporting improvements in productivity / cost efficiency.


With a collaborative style, you will have the ability to quickly engage credibly with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • As part of the Senior Finance team, contribute to the effective leadership and strategic development of the department to ensure the provision of a highquality service.
  • The postholder will be an expert in the completion, communication and submissions of all major Business Cases linked to material projects required to help the Trust deliver its long term clinical strategy.
  • Work with the business intelligence team and Divisional leadership to support and drive productivity improvement and convey the linkages with workforce growth, service change and quality improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and work with the right people in the organisation to explore them, ensuring change is implemented where it is right / safe to do so.
  • Support the development of a financially sustainable culture primarily within the clinical Divisions but in every area of the Trust working with key stakeholders and highlighting any skills gaps.
