About us

We are part of an expanding Employability Team sitting within the Learning & Skills Directorate of the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The Pod Advisor is a new and exciting UK Government funded development.


The Advice POD will be a one stop shop of various local services seeking to help residents/customers to access some basic support services (helping complete benefit forms, help with financial management, digital skills, mental health organisations etc) to aid engagement and build confidence.


The role will involve some work in outreach venues you will support and direct to benefits, housing, debt and mental health organisations.

Connecting local people with opportunities for skills, training, jobs and careers.

The longer-term aim is to help customers develop skills and motivation to progress into other services including Adult Community Learning and Employability services.


The post holder will be required to build on exciting relationships and partnerships within the Vale of Glamorgan to ensure adequate support service are available to individuals visiting the Advice POD.


About the role

Pay Details:
Scale 5 SP- 12, £22,777 - £24,496

Hours of Work /
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week

Main Place of Work:
The advice Pod, (planned for Barry)

Temporary Reason: 31st March 2025 (following a successful probationary period).


Description:
Supporting participants with high quality advice and technical support that may help them overcome barriers to engagement. Whether this be upskilling, building confidence or general well-being support. The post holder will be required to collate and maintain data to report accurately when required.


About you

You will need:

  • Experience of providing support and/or advice either in an employment based or similar support service.
  • Experience of working with hardtoreach participants with multiple needs.
  • Experience of working in a multiagency partnership environment.
  • Experience in providing appropriate support and advice to groups and individuals in the community.
  • Knowledge of providing information, advice and guidance around a range of benefits, housing and other support services
  • Knowledge and Experience of using a wide range of digital media systems.
  • Supporting individuals with digital skills and developing these skills where possible
  • Ability to communicate effectively with participants, staff, and stakeholders in plain, easy to understand English and/or Welsh, both in writing and verbally
  • Demonstrable customer care skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build and maintain effective and supportive relationships with peers and partners
