Job summary:

Are you a Renal Dietitian looking for a leadership post leading whilst utilising highly developed renal dietetic skills?


An excellent opportunity has arisen to lead a forward thinking renal dietetic team of 4 specialist Band 6 renal dietitians.

You will work as part of a highly committed multidisciplinary renal team including renal consultants, specialist renal nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and therapy support workers.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated dietitian with an interest and enthusiasm for renal dietetics and proven experience in autonomous management of people with complex nutritional diagnoses.

Excellent communication skills and a flexible approach will be key requirements. Extremely good leadership, team working, organisational and time management skills are essential.

Your clinical experience and leadership skills will promote resourceful and innovative working practices and development and implementation of new models of care.


The post holder will participate in student training and staff development programmes as well as contribute to quality improvement, service evaluation and evidence based programmes.


The post holder will deliver dietetic expertise to a mixed patient caseload as well as promote education and development of future specialist renal dietitians.

Main duties, tasks & skills required:

You will provide specialist dietetic care to a varied case load of Chronic Kidney Disease Patients which will include Predialysis and Conservatively managed CKD patients, Haemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis, pre and post-transplant care.

The service covers 4 renal units, ward areas and outpatient clinic settings.

Clinical work is in both and inpatient and outpatient setting working with individuals with complex needs both in person and remotely.

You will provide peer support and supervision to dietitians in the team to enhance skill development.

Highly developed clinical reasoning skills are essential to ensure dietetic care is applied appropriately.


An understanding of bone mineral metabolism is advantageous as the renal dietetic team play an integral role in coordinating the Parathyroidectomy pathway and work within a dietetic guideline on bone mineral metabolism.


Therapies at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals as part of UHB is committed to providing a 7 day therapy service with participation in bank holiday cover for dietetics.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across sites and support evening, weekend and bank holiday working if it is required.
